Darling, I’ve done very little today except just to recuperate after my
vacation.  I did manage to go up on the Avenue to pay the electric, gas, and
telephone bills, however, as I’ve been unable to get meat, Ronnie and I ate
our dinner at Ford and Hopkins Drugstore.  We had Swiss steak, (very small
piece) mashed potatoes, corn, tomatoes, soup, and layer cake, and iced tea,
all for 65 cents each, which isn’t bad.  Tonight the Pages were home and
Ronnie asleep, they suggested I go to a show, so I did.  I saw a picture
National Barn Dance, and Practically Yours, with F. MacMurray , Claudette
Colbert, which was silly, but still very funny & I had a lot of laughs.

I’m going to take my car down tomorrow to get it fixed up at Packard. I hope
it won’t cost too much.  Maybe I can pay it in payments.  I guess I’ll take
a ride out to Glen Ellen when I get the car back.  I’ve given up the idea of
selling and going there, as in his letters he keeps saying it’s impossible to
find living quarters there.  Besides, I keep hoping you’ll be home this Fall
to take care of things yourself.  Good night honey and take care of yourself.
