Dearest Alice and Ronnie:

Here I am at this new camp.  Arrived here yesterday evening after a very
pleasant trip from our camp South of Paris about thirty miles.  It was located
near a town called Estampes.  This one is North East of Paris and right in a
good sized city.  It’s South West of where Al Evers is about forty miles I
think.  Don’t know whether I’ll get a chance to go see him or not.  I say the
trip here was pleasant mostly because it was full of surprises.  The first,
instead of riding in the boxcars as we had expected we rode in third class
passenger cars and that is a real luxury to forty and eight boxcars.  Second,
we came through Paris and laid over there overnight.  That was just like
another pass into Paris because we all took off.  Even though there were no
passes issued.  From Paris to here again third class.  The trip was all made
during daylight and the country is all nice and green now and quite pretty.
With only occasional signs of the war that passed thru here so swiftly last
