Hello, honey,
I wrote a long letter last night, so will just write a V-Mail tonight. I’m
rather tired too, as I ironed clothes from 9:00 until 4:00 P.M., then went out
and washed the car. That was an awful job, as it was just filthy. It was darn
cold out there too, although it was in the garage. Ronnie and Bobby were in
the backyard playing in the snow and all of a sudden Ronnie started to cry. I
looked out and here was poor Ronnie lying on his face in the dirty snow with
Bobby sitting on top of him holding his head down. Was I mad! I yelled at
Bobby to go home, and around the corner comes Mrs. Dixon. She wanted to know
what was wrong and when I told her she took Bobby and made him lay down in the
snow face down to show him how it felt. Was it funny! Of course, then Bobby
cried too. More excitement! I haven’t had a letter from my Daddy since last
Thursday. You better get going and write. Good night Darling, and a kiss and
lots and lots of love from Mom and Ronnie

Dearest,

Here I am again! I’m still so sleepy I can hardly keep my eyes open! I wonder
if you could, keep me awake? Better come home, honey, or I’ll never know. I
got a card from your dad today asking for news of you and he hopes you’re
getting along okay. Said they’d been to Norma’s and that they were all well,
but Claudette has been ill. Do you have his new address? It’s 614 5th Street,
Oregon City, Oregon. I’m going to ask Mr. Page if the roads are O.K. now, and
if so I may go out to Glen Ellen this week and see how things are going out
there. I haven’t been there since your furlough. I just finished washing my
hair and should set it before I go to bed. I’ve been to a beauty shop just
once since July. Aren’t I extravagant? [The] Insurance man relieved me of
$4.83 today. That month sure rolls around in a hurry. My bills are all paid,
thank goodness, even if I’m just about broke. Hope you won’t have to use my
letters to hold over my head when you return.
All our love,
Mom and Ronnie
