My darling,

How are you today, honey? Feel better or do you still have those terrific
headaches? I hope you don’t, as I know how they feel, because I used to have
sinus headaches, but since I spent those few months in California, I haven’t
had them. Either the change of climate or the fact that I had my tonsils out
just before that cured me. I don’t know which, but it’s certainly a relief.
If you still have trouble when you get back we’ll have to move to Arizona, I
guess. The real estate business should be good there, too. I haven’t had a
letter for two days, so I’m on pins and needles and live for the mailman’s
visit. I accomplished a few things today, such as scrubbing kitchen and
bathroom floors, and kitchen cabinets, table and chairs, polished our
silverware, and with meals and dishes had a full day. Tomorrow, I hope to
clean the basement as much as I hate the job. Ronnie is still just as thrilled
with his trains and tractor as ever. We can’t wait to <? welcome> our Daddy.
much love, Mom and Ronnie.

Dearest,

It won’t be long before it’s Ronnie’s birthday, and this time guess there’s no
chance of his Daddy’s being here to celebrate with us, as he has been the past
two birthdays. I doubt very much if I’ll have a party for him, but if I do it
will be a very small one. In either case he will have a birthday cake, however,
even if I have to bake it myself, and we’ll be thinking of you every minute,
that you can be sure of! Sometimes I get the blues terribly, thinking how
unlucky we are being apart for so long, and then again I thank God that I’m
lucky enough to have you alive and with good hopes of a future reunion sometime
in the future. That is a 100% more than some girls have to look forward to and
I’m truly grateful, even if I complain at times. We should both be thankful
that Ronnie is well and full of pep, too. So counting our blessings I guess we
should be glad.
Good night, honey, love always,
Mom and Ronnie.
