V-mail from: Mrs. G. Shonkwiler to: Pvt George W. Shonkwiler Feb. 27, 9:45 p.m.
The letter dated the 18th sure made good time for airmail. Hi, honey,
This is number three today. Not a thing of importance has happened since this afternoon, except that I shopped for some groceries and stopped at Dixon’s on my way home. Did I tell you that Bobby got his finger caught in the hinge side of a store refrigerator last Saturday and his fingernail was torn off? Today while I was over there, Mr. Ivan on Lowe Ave. (Tommy Ivan’s dad) brought Bobby home and said his shepherd dog had jumped on Bobby and his claw cut his lip. It wasn’t very serious, altho Mr. Ivan offered to take him to a doctor. Poor Bobby, everything happens to him. I’m glad that so far Ronnie hasn’t had any accidents. We still have one pup, and while playing with Ronnie, it scratched him up a bit, but not seriously. I’ve given up hope of selling it and don’t know what to do with it as it’s growing big. Can’t I send him to you as a mascot? Know what, honey? I got six letters today and a Stars and Stripes and World News, letters dated Jan. 30, 31, and Feb. 1, 3, and 4th. Can’t tell you how wonderful it is to hear from you and I’m especially waiting to hear where you’ll be sent from England.
Good night, honey, love, Mom and Ronnie
