Dearest Alice and Ronnie,

Another day, another dollar, and again, nothing new has happened for the
umphteenth straight day.  The only thing good about any part of it is the
weather.  The weather does continue to be remarkably good, and sunny France
is just that.  So far the evening[s] are cool, and the days warmer which is
as it should be.  My status, as far as I know, remains the same, and my work
consists of very little or nothing.  Didn’t think I’d ever get to the point
where I’d gripe about not having anything to do, but I have.

Went for a walk downtown tonight, watched part of a ball game, sat around
doing nothing for a while, and now am writing this letter.  That’s pretty
well taken care of the evening.  Exciting isn’t [it]?  Didn’t go to the show
because I had already seen it, and I get tired sitting through shows I have
already seen once or twice before.  Think I’ll get a pass to Paris tomorrow
for the weekend.  This will be the first time have had a chance to go there
and stay overnight on a pass.  Guess we stay at a Red Cross and we eat there
too.  They have now started serving meals for men on pass I understand.
