Darling,
I still have my cold, sore throat, ears, nose running and all. I certainly could use a lot of sympathy, but get none. I did manage to iron about half my washing yesterday. And in the afternoon went up to Sears to pick up Ronnie’s wagon. It’s a cute one and has steel wheels and axles and rubber tires. He had it out in the rain yesterday tho and the finish must have been shellac, rained off in spots. I’m going to varnish it next week. He certainly loves it, and right now he has all his toys filled in it giving them a ride. He and Bobby were pulling one another in it yesterday afternoon and altho Bobby has two wagons of his own, he had to play with the new one. I was able to get 2 slices of ham and a lb of pork cutlets yesterday, but now I’m out of butter and have no points. The meat will have to last a couple weeks at least. We haven’t had any meat all week, but a couple wieners and Ronnie ate those. Last night the Pages took us to the Rose Bowl for dinner, we had roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy and coconut cream pie. It tasted good in spite of my cold. Saw a carnival on 115th street so I took Ronnie on the merry-go-round (he sat on the horse) and cried the whole time he was on - the big sissy. I had to stand and hold him.
Goodbye now, Love, Mom and Ronnie

Page 2. Hello again, honey,
We had intended to see a ball game in Palmer Park after dinner last night, but it rained from 4:00 P.M. on the rest of the night. We have the lousiest weather. It did stop a little bit while Ronnie rode the merry-go-round and then started again. It has to rain every day regularly, it seems. I have so much to do today, cleaning, ironing, etc., but I feel so lousy, I wish I could rest. - However "there’s no rest for the wicked." so s’pose I’ll keep going. Remember Rena (the Italian girl who used to ride with us from Pullman)? Her boyfriend who was stationed at the Panama Canal, has been discharged and they will be married in October. Pretty nice, huh? They’re both nice kids and deserve it, so more power to ’em. I haven’t had a letter from you since Monday. - Could it be you’re on your way home? Wouldn’t that be something? Everyone keeps telling me you and I deserve to be together, too. - do we? In a way I s’pose we have earned that right, but then so have lots of others and that thought is what makes me bear up, I s’pose. Perhaps - some glorious day, we’ll get together and who knows we may go far towards "licking, this old world" after all.
Bye, darling and behave and come home soon. Love, Mom and Ronnie
